Managing Complexity: Conspiracies and the Idea of God

Can conspiracies really be carried out, or is that level of complexity to difficult to manage? Why do we believe in the idea of God? If there is such a "master plan," is that not just one overarching conspiracy? How would God be able to manage such complexity? The idea of God is that given a sufficient level of knowlege and power, everything can be foreseen and controlled. Is that not also the fundamental goal of humanity?
